چکیده

Many types of biliary fistula have been created for the study of biliary secretion in the experimental perspex block'-animal. Most of these interfere considerably with n6' 5/e r , normal physiological function, either by bypassing r the sphincter of Oddi, or more commonly by failing body to maintain the enterohepatic circulation of bile. of Thureborn (1963) has shown that interruption of the enterohepatic circulation alters the volume and 0ockli7 c $crm composition of liver bile. Moreover the enterohepatic kper co/let dewcea circulation is modified by the activity of the gall bladder and the sphincter of Oddi. The apparatus A which we have used in the dog is easy to construct, causes minimal interference with normal biliary mechanics, and has proved successful in studies of bile flow and composition.

Hemoglobin Production in Anemia as Influenced by the Bile Fistula

The presence of a renal bile fistula with escape of all bile into the urinary tract seriously impairs the capacity of an anemic dog to form new hemoglobin on standard diets. These bile fistula dogs will produce about one-half as much hemoglobin in anemia on standard diets as during earlier control periods without a bile fistula. Iron given by mouth to an anemic bile fistula dog will effect the ...

Leptospirosis and immune-mediated hemolytic anemia: A lethal association

Immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA) is a common cause of anemia in dogs. The immune aggression towards erythrocytes can be triggered by many pathological conditions such as infection, inflammatory disease or neoplasia. Upon ruling out any eliciting conditions, a diagnosis of the primary immune-mediated disease can be made. In this particular case of severe anemia (tested positive for circul...

Relative measurement of heavy elements in the bile, gallbladder and gallstone

ABSTRACT  BACKGROUND: PIXE (Particle Induced X-Ray Emission) is a suitable method for the analysis of biological samples in which heavy trace elements are contained in light matrix elements. It is very important to know which factors or probably elements act as initial seed and lead to growing the sands. The goal of this study was to compare the relative values of Fe/K, Cu/K and Zn/K for gallst...

Splenectomy in Bile Fistula Dogs

A splenectomized dog can be kept anemic for months or years in perfectly good condition. A renal bile fistula dog on a suitable diet can be kept in perfect health and activity with normal weight for years. When we combine splenectomy and the bile fistula, after a latent period, we invariably observe a striking reaction with enormous over-production of bile pigment, a definite anemia and finally...
